Biography

Charlie Nesbitt nicknamed ‘Spud’ kicked off his racing journey as a six-year-old competing in the FAB Racing Championship.

As a kid, he enjoyed time racing in mini moto and metrakit classes, before taking up the opportunity to contest the Spanish Championship at just 11 years of age.

After a year in Spain, the racing prospect returned to UK soil, joining the British Superteens Championship for a single season. The following year and with the support of many, Nesbitt made the step up to the British Motostar series; the Moto3 support class within the British Superbike Championship. The youngster made a solid first impression on arrival to the British Superbike paddock and remained within the class until the end of 2016, when a dominant championship campaign, registered with 15 wins overall, earned him his first British title at just 15 years old.

Having proven to possess championship winning pedigree in the British paddock, Nesbitt made his first steps into the global arena; joining the international ranks of the Junior World Championship for the 2017 and 2018 season. His world championship efforts were cut short halfway through 2018. From there, came a switch back into familiar territory, returning to the British paddock, this time competing in the British GP2 series. He remained within the championship up until 2021, when an outstanding third full year would see him crowned British champion for the second time in his career.

Charlie Nesbitt joined Hawk for the 2022 season to ride the VisionTrack Suzuki in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship, in which he went on to secure a memorable win at Cadwell Park, and four other podium finishes. He has been promoted from within the Hawk team to a full-time Bennetts BSB ride having impressed on his first appearances in the class towards the end of the 2022 season. Nesbitt’s career highlights to date include victories in the British Moto3 Championship in 2016 and the British GP2 Championship in 2021.

Nesbitt had an rookie season in 2023, claiming his first podium finishes in Bennetts BSB at Thruxton and he is back with the Mastermac Honda Team for 2024.
