Charlie Nesbitt moved to the top of the R&G Rising Stars League after the third round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park, taking a two-point lead after scoring a career best result of sixth place in race two.
The MasterMac Honda by Hawk Racing rider elevated himself ahead of Bradley Perie by two points and a further one point ahead of Tim Neave after the opening nine races of the season, with Knockhill coming up next on June 17/18/19.
Nesbitt said: “I am really happy with the weekend we had at Donington Park and how it all went. It was my best results in the championship by far and to be consistently running in the top ten and so close to the win at the end of the race is where we want to be really.
“To be able to come away from there leading the rookie standings is a real bonus and I think if we can continue on this trajectory and progression that we are with the Honda and learning, then I don’t think it will be long until we are up there.
“I am really looking forward to Knockhill as it is a bit of a leveler with the track layout. The times are going to be really close and it should be good racing for everyone to watch so I can’t wait for it!”
