Ian Newton began his association with Aprilia in 1992 by competing in the European and British Championships on a 250cc Aprilia. On retiring in 1995 he continued to support Aprilia by running the Aprilia Superteen Series in the UK for over 20 years which was the most successful series in the world.

In 2019 Ian formed the IN Competition Aprilia team, continuing with the support of Aprilia to compete in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series on the RSV4s, with a strong third place finish in the 2020 standings with Lewis Rollo. 

The team stepped up to the Superbike class in 2024 in the BSB Pathway class, with Rollo winning the class and taking a memorable podium finish at Snetterton.
