Leon Haslam is another rider to have followed in his Father’s footsteps to compete in top level motorcycle racing, and the ‘Pocket Rocket’ returns to bid for a second British Championship crown in 2023.
Haslam has competed and Grand Prix level and returns to the British Championship from the World stage when he has previously been a runner-up in the title fight in 2010. Most recently he has been competing for Honda with their WSBK project, which has seen a focus on development with the new model. In his WSBK career he scored five wins and 45 podiums.
He is famously known within the British Championship for his determination; in 2017 he looked set to claim his first title when he suffered brake failure which saw him crash out of contention and suffer a broken ankle. It handed the title to his rival, but he still gritted his teeth with injury to return to congratulate his opposition on their victory.
A year later it was a different story and he delivered an incredible performance all season long to seize the crown in emphatic style, winning 15 races with a further six podiums.
