Tom Ward will make his Bennetts British Superbike Championship debut at Snetterton this weekend (August 21/22/23) after joining the Bike Devil Kawasaki team ahead of the next event of the season.
Canterbury-based contender Ward has been a podium finisher in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship previously, and after his deal for the 2020 Superstock season fell through just ahead of the restart, this new partnership puts him firmly back on track.
Ward said: “I am really excited for this opportunity as I have always been part of my own team and so everything was always down to me to improve. To be able to work with a full team and with PJ [Pete Jennings] as a crew chief is a big opportunity for me. I haven’t ridden since March so I am under no illusions that it will be a big learning weekend especially as I have never tested a Superbike, but this is a great chance and when one door closes another opens. I can’t wait to get started.”
Team owner Dave Tyson commented: “We are happy to announce that Tom will be joining the team from this weekend. It will be a steep learning curve for him but he has shown potential in the Superstock class and after being sidelined at the last minute, it is great to be able to get him back on track.”
