26 June 2020

Smiths Racing have announced a new title sponsor ahead of the rescheduled 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season, as UK based industrial robot company Global Robots increase their partnership with the team.

Global Robots, a long-term sponsor of the Gloucester team, supports suppliers and partners around the world offering a single source for industrial robots, spare parts, service and advice.

The company have now expanded their support to the team who line up with multiple race winner Peter Hickman alongside Alex Olsen ahead of the opening round of the 2020 season which gets underway in August at Donington Park.

Team Principal Rebecca Smith said: “We’re extremely pleased to have Global Robots confirmed as our title sponsors for the revised 2020 calendar. We have worked in partnership for a number of years and their professionalism and innovation is exciting to be associated with, and we now look forward to getting some testing completed and getting the season underway.”

Team manager Darren Jones added: “It’s great to have Andy and the Global Robots team step up as our title sponsors for the revised 2020 season. They also manufacture a lot of our machined parts in house which is invaluable. We’ve been very fortunate with all of our loyal sponsors sticking by us through a very tough time. Now we look ahead to some testing before racing begins in August.”

Global Robots’ Andy Kirkwood concluded: “Global Robots are extremely proud to be title sponsors to the Smiths Racing Team who are undoubtedly the best in the game on the roads and BSB. They are so professional and committed to put out the ultimate in bike, riders and team engineers.

“We have been working together for many years now as sponsors and parts suppliers for the bike, so both as a company and personally for me this is a great opportunity and honour for us, so thanks to Alan and Rebecca for helping us achieve this goal.”

The Global Robots BMW team will take to the track for the first time in their new identity at the official pre-season test at Donington Park on July 28 ahead of the first round of the revised 18 race Bennetts British Superbike Championship which kicks off at the same venue on August 7/8/9.
