Glenn Irwin denied Danny Kent the top spot in the penultimate Bennetts British Superbike Championship R&G Official Test session at Donington Park, displacing him from the top in the closing stages to be 0.059s ahead at the chequered flag.
Bradley Ray had led into the final ten minutes as he surged ahead for Raceways Yamaha, but Irwin continued his momentum to move back to the top of the times on the Hager PBM Ducati as Kent closed in on the McAMS Racing Yamaha on his final lap of the session.
Leon Haslam was fourth fastest on the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing with reigning champion Kyle Ryde completing the top five on the OMG Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha.
Josh Brookes led the DAO Racing Honda charge in sixth place ahead of Max Cook, who had been inside the top five earlier in the session and rookie Scott Swann who had a strong performance on the Send My Bag Racing by IWR Honda.
Charlie Nesbitt and Tommy Bridewell completed the top ten ahead of the final session of the two-day test.
The first session of the morning had been hampered by overnight rain, with only nine riders venturing out onto the drying track.
