Donington Park to set the scene for the final title Showdown

25 September 2024

There are just six points separating Tommy Bridewell and Kyle Ryde at the top of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with just six races and 180 points there for the taking across this weekend’s round at Donington Park and the Brands Hatch season finale (October 11/12/13).

Bridewell’s lead was cut last time out at Oulton Park, but the reigning champion remains hell bent on becoming the first rider in Bennetts BSB history to win consecutive titles for two different manufacturers.

Ryde comes into his home round this weekend after announcing his renewed contract with OMG Racing UK for next season and he will be bidding to return to the top to hold the advantage into the final triple-header at Brands Hatch next month.

Glenn Irwin nearly halved the advantage to Bridewell at Oulton Park; he is now 45 points adrift for Hager PBM Ducati as he bids to overhaul the pair at Donington Park.

Whilst the leading trio have the initial edge ahead of Donington Park, ten riders remain in mathematical contention ahead of this weekend with Christian Iddon leading the chasing pack in fourth place ahead of Danny Kent who completes the top five.

Ryan Vickers, Lee Jackson, Leon Haslam, Jason O'Halloran and Josh Brookes complete the riders with an outside shot ahead of Donington Park, with the Grand Prix circuit producing one of the closest races of the season at the visit earlier in the year.
