O’Halloran targets extending winning momentum at Knockhill

Jason O'Halloran claimed his first victory with Team Green last time out at Donington Park and now the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki rider is bidding to carry the winning momentum to Knockhill for round four of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship next month (14/15/16 June).

O’Halloran celebrated a sensational win in race three at Donington Park as the Australian continues to get more acquainted with the Kawasaki, but following a consistent start to the season the ‘O’Show is now raring to go as the championship heads north of the border for the annual Knockhill event.

O’Halloran said: “In general, Donington Park was obviously a good weekend. I went there feeling quite positive after Oulton Park, even though the results there were similar to what we had at Navarra with the sixth and a seventh. But by the end of the weekend I was feeling better on the bike and I felt that if we had a better first few laps in the race, especially the last race, that we could have been much closer towards the front. So going to Donington Park I felt quite positive.

“We started Friday quite well with being second and then we had Superpole, which was disappointing to get my lap time cancelled, it was one of those things and I ended up 15th which really affected our weekend. It made the first two races quite hard, but by the last one, I started fourth and got away with the leaders, which was what I had wanted to do at the first few rounds, but I hadn’t been able to get away at the start as I had been starting quite a way back on the grid.

“We managed to get to the front and have a really good battle, over the years I have been involved in some pretty good races, and that was one of the best for sure so to win it was amazing. I am really starting to feel comfortable on the bike, I am enjoying working with the team and I am getting more and more familiar with the Kawasaki.

“I am starting to understand the bike and its strengths more and change my style a little bit to suit it. It doesn’t happen overnight and we haven’t had that much time on it; we don’t have like ten days of testing pre-season and then go racing. We have a few days and then we go straight into the races so we are learning on the job and progressing as fast as we can.

“To be able to win by round three was great for the team and great for myself, our sponsors such as Completely Motorbikes, AJN Steelstock and everyone who support the team and back the project this year. It is nice to get them some reward for them so early in the season and the guys who work so hard in the team to work and prep the bike and work with me over the weekend, we are doing a good job and I am really enjoying it.

“I am looking forward to going to Knockhill now and hopefully carry on where we left off at Donington and get right in the fight and seeing if we can win some more races.”
