Josh Brookes claimed the victory in the opening Pirelli National Superstock Championship race of the weekend at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix at Silverstone yesterday (Saturday) as the series returned to the full Grand Prix circuit.
The race win was history repeating himself as the double Bennetts British Superbike champion returned to the top step of the Silverstone podium, having been the first rider to celebrate a victory on the circuit when it debuted in June 2010 when the Superstock race opened the British MotoGP weekend.
Brookes said: “I remember well the 2010 event in the Superstock race; I actually had that very much in mind when we agreed to race at the event this year. Qualifying on pole and winning the first race, so far everything is going to plan!”
