Ryde versus O’Halloran with 0.011s in it after Speedy Hire Qualifying

Kyle Ryde held off Jason O'Halloran by just 0.011s in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Speedy Hire Qualifying session at Thruxton in a high-speed battle for the Omologato pole position ahead of this afternoon’s opening race.

Ryde had set the benchmark at the mid-way point of the session and the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider held the edge despite O’Halloran coming close to stealing the position in the final minutes of Qualifying two.

Billy McConnell surged into third as he was locked on track with standings leader Tommy Bridewell, the reigning champion will start from eighth on the grid for the opening race.

Ryan Vickers will head the second row on the second of the OMG GRILLA Yamahas as he held off Danny Kent and ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team’s Leon Haslam.

Lee Jackson will start seventh on the leading MasterMac Honda ahead of the Honda Racing UK teammates, Bridewell and Andrew Irwin with Max Cook completing the top ten.

Meanwhile the Ducati contenders will start in 14th and 15th respectively as Glenn Irwin and Christian Iddon completed the top 15 riders in Bennetts BSB Q2.
