Buchan sidelined for the remainder of the season

20 September 2023

SYNETIQ BMW’s Danny Buchan has been sidelined for the remaining two rounds of the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Unfortunately, after seeking expert medical advice, following a recent concussion, Buchan will not contest the final two rounds at Donington Park and Brands Hatch. Whilst it is disappointing news for the SYNETIQ BMW Team, Buchan’s health and welfare is of paramount importance.

TAS Racing would like to thank Buchan for his contribution over the past three seasons, which included memorable moments, none more so than double victories at both Knockhill and Cadwell Park during his time with the team.

Buchan said: “Obviously this isn’t the way, we as a team, wanted to end 2023. It’s been a tough season for both myself and SYNETIQ BMW, as I really had my mind set on coming back for the final two rounds and ending the season with some strong results. However, having spoken to the specialist, he advised that I sit out the rest of the season based on the injury and I need to take that advice onboard.

“I want to thank Philip Neill and the SYNETIQ BMW team for the past three seasons, where we have shared some victories and podiums together. We have had some great days as a team and I’m grateful to have played a small part in the TAS Racing history. I wish them all the best for the future.”

Team Owner Philip Neill commented: “It’s never perfect to end a season early with a rider, but Danny needs to take the advice of his specialist as his health is the most important factor. We’ve certainly had some good times together this past three seasons and obviously some difficult ones, but he’s always been professional and a credit to the team. He’s a great lad and we wish him well in the future.”
