Tim Neave and the McAMS Yamaha team have parted company ahead of the fourth round of the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
The split, which is wholly amicable, comes after the former flat-track star has decided to take a step back from racing for personal reasons. McAMS Yamaha fully supports Neave in his decision and extend their sincere thanks for his contribution to the team over the last 18 months.
Neave and the Raceways Motorcycles-run effort became the first team to win a Pirelli National Superstock race for Yamaha since 2011 with the Lincolnshire rider fighting for the title before breaking his pelvis in an unfortunate crash in Knockhill testing last June.
His efforts in the Superstock class earned him the chance to replace Tarran Mackenzie on the team’s R1 Superbike, and despite glimpses of potential in the first three rounds, Neave has decided for personal reasons not to continue for the rest of the season.
Team Owner Steve Rodgers commented: “We are sad to be parting company with Tim, but fully respect his decision as he needs to do what is right for him. He’s been a pleasure to have in the team, we have achieved a lot together including the first Yamaha Superstock win in over a decade. We genuinely wish him well in whatever comes next.”
