Buchan ready to have “a good go” at Knockhill after strong test

02 June 2023

Danny Buchan is ready to begin his fightback in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the next round of the season at Knockhill in two weeks’ time following a positive two day test with the SYNETIQ BMW team this week.

Buchan was sidelined at Oulton Park following a crash at the Silverstone season opener; however, the team positively utilised the test this week to reclaim track time lost to their rivals. The SYNETIQ BMW rider has traditionally thrived at the Scottish circuit, claiming a double win in 2021 along with a third place, narrowly missing out on the podium last season and is looking forward to the return for round four.

Buchan said: “It was a really good test at Knockhill for us and our main objective was to get plenty of laps in, as with the injury and also the miserable weather we had pre-season, we haven’t had much time on the race bike in dry conditions. We aimed to get plenty of laps, which we did.

“I was quite pleased to get up to speed relatively quickly and I was done to competitive times pretty much after lap 15, so that was good for us as we had a few new parts to test, so it meant that we could get to work straight away on those.

“It was scorching so it was good for us to be able to run a consistent, fast pace considering the heat. In the morning of day two it was a complete contrast and colder and the bike felt good in those conditions too, so I left the test confident and comfortable. Especially after a disappointing Donington Park, it was nice to get back to Knockhill and to be quick and consistent.

“It bodes well for the race weekend, I love Knockhill and always look forward to going back there as the track really suits my style and the way I ride the bike. I am looking forward to having a good go there and to start trying to get some points back in the championship.”
