TAG Racing Honda have announced a two-strong rider line-up ahead of the 2023 Pirelli National Superstock Championship, with Matt Truelove joining Shaun Winfield as the countdown continues to the season opener at Silverstone.
Truelove joined the TAG Racing team onboard the Fireblade for the final round of last season at Brands Hatch and together are now looking ahead to continuing their progress with the latest 2022 Honda CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade. He joins Winfield in the Ashby-based team as he also bids to build on last season, where he claimed top ten finishes at a best result of fifth at Snetterton.
Truelove said: “It’s great to be joining the TAG Honda team for the 2023 Superstock season. I managed to do the last round of 2022 at Brands Hatch and could see first-hand that they are in it for the right reasons, with equal ambition to myself. Everyone clearly works hard to achieve results, and that is exactly where I want to be.
“I’ve had a couple of bad seasons, so I’m really keen to get back out there and get back up to the sharp end. A big thank you to everyone involved for making it happen, especially to Rob and Gary for this great opportunity. I’m really looking forward to this year!”
Winfield said: “I’m really excited to get going this season after a really promising end to 2022. From no points the year before, to finishing one point shy of tenth in the Championship, I am going into 2023 with a really positive outlook. The team were first-class last year, and I believe with their hard work and support we will deliver some top results this season with the new bikes.”
Team Manager Gary Winfield commented: “It’s been great to spend time with Matt and we are pleased to welcome him to the team. After a successful campaign in the Superstock series last year with Shaun, we have bigger and bolder ambitions this year and believe both Matt and Shaun have the experience and the calibre to achieve those goals.
“We are eager to get going with the latest machine after spending a considerable amount of time throughout the winter developing the bike to its utmost potential. It’s great to have Matt and Shaun in the team, and we are excited to get going.”
