British Talent Cup Champion O’Gorman joins OMG Racing for Supersport debut

OMG Racing have announced that 2021 British Talent Cup winner Casey O’Gorman will make his Quattro Group British Supersport Championship debut this weekend at Cadwell Park as the 16-year-old joins the team onboard a Yamaha R6, prepared by the team at their Cannock-base.

O’Gorman joined the reigning Bennetts BSB champions at Thruxton, deputising for Aaron Daykin in the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship where he instantly impressed, missing out on pole position by just 0.017 seconds on his first event with the team, before he was sidelined from the race.

O’Gorman said: “I’m looking forward to continuing with the team after a strong performance at Thruxton. We didn’t get the chance to show our true potential in the race, so I’m excited for a new challenge learning the Cadwell track and the Supersport bike!”

Team Owner Alan Gardner commented: “Casey has something rare in the modern world of motorcycle racing – raw, natural talent. He’s a name I’ve followed for a while, and when the opportunity came to put him on the Junior Superstock R6 at Thruxton, it was one we couldn’t pass up. I’m genuinely excited to have him onboard for the rest of the season, and I think he’s going to upset more than a few big names with his results from the off.”

Team Principal Paul Curran added: “Casey has been on my radar for a while, and following the weekend at Thruxton I was impressed with not only his genuine natural talent, but his attitude too. He has a real drive to succeed, and I think will be the perfect addition to LAMI OMG Racing for the remainder of season. Will we see him on a Superbike in 12 months’ time? Stranger things have happened!”
