Bradley Ray launched to the top of the times in the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship SUPERPICKS Free Practice session at Oulton Park this morning, setting the pace with the fastest ever BSB lap of the circuit to top the times for Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha.
Ray’s fastest lap was 0.022s faster than the previous best set at the Cheshire circuit by Jake Dixon in 2018, giving him a 0.592s edge at the top of the times over Peter Hickman on the FHO Racing BMW.
Hickman has surged up a position into second place with his final lap of the opening session as Jason O'Halloran also moved up the order on his penultimate lap to end third fastest for McAMS Yamaha.
Lee Jackson was the leading Team Green contender in fourth position for the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team ahead of Tommy Bridewell who completed the top five on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati.
Danny Buchan was sixth fastest for the SYNETIQ BMW team, setting a pace to put him just ahead of Honda Racing UK’s Glenn Irwin and Ryan Vickers on the FHO Racing BMW with Attis Sports.
Leon Haslam was just 0.001s adrift of Vickers to post the ninth fastest time for the VisionTrack Kawasaki team despite a small crash at Lodge during the session, whilst Andrew Irwin completed the top ten.
