South African Supersport Champion Blaze Baker will make his debut in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship next season, joining forces with the Ready4Racing supported by Vision team. The 25-year old will return on a Ducati, with the support and backing from Moto Rapido.
The R4R team had a strong 2022 season finishing third in the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship with Dan Brooks. Baker joins the team following an impressive racing debut in Britain in the Ducati Tri-Options Cup, finishing third in the overall standings after seven podium finishes including three race wins.
Baker said: “After a really enjoyable UK debut season in the BSB series in 2022, I spent the last few weeks in discussions a number of top teams who will be competing in Superbikes, Supersport and GP2 series in 2023.
“I’m delighted to be riding for Ready4Racing in 2023. The additional exclusive support we will be getting from the MotoRapido team will be of great benefit to us. During my meetings and discussions with R4R it was apparent that we had a very similar professional and ambitious mindset. The fact that we have a number of mutual friends and acquaintances also helped.
“Having been two-time Supersport Champion in South Africa and finishing third in last season’s Ducati TriOptions Cup, I’m looking forward to giving it a real go in the Supersport series in 2023!”
R4R Racing’s Elliott Mumford said: “As a team we are extremely excited about this new challenge for 2023 with the help from MotoRapido and racing the Ducati in the Supersport class will be a fantastic experience.
“Blaze will be a great addition to the team his Supersport knowledge and history is fantastic and he settled in really well to all new circuits in 2022 with some great results. We are very much looking forward to fighting for podiums next season.
“Thank you to all the sponsors involved. There is an option for a second rider so if anyone is keen please feel free to contact us on [email protected].”
