Barnes joins DMJ Drainage Yamaha for Quattro Plant Supersport attack

12 April 2022

Ash Barnes will make his Quattro Group British Supersport Championship debut this year as the teenager steps up to the class with the Raceways Motorcycles supported DMJ Drainage Yamaha team aboard Yamaha R6 machinery.

After a successful 2021 campaign, which saw Barnes secure a race victory at Donington National and a further ten podium finishes on the way to second overall in the HEL Performance Junior Supersport series, the Yamaha rider is eager to embark on his new Supersport venture.

Barnes will once again have support from Raceways Motorcycles’ Steve Rodgers as well as working closely with McAMS Yamaha’s Anthony Clegg throughout his maiden season in the class.

He will miss the opening two rounds of the championship as he is not old enough to take to the grid in the Supersport class until May, when he will become one of the youngest riders in British Supersport history.

Barnes said: “I’m looking forward to getting my first season in Quattro Plant British Supersport Championship underway. This season will very much be a learning year for me with no real expectations. My aim is to take each round as they come and look to score some good points towards the tail end of the season. Once again, I want to thank Steve and Anthony from Raceways and all my sponsors for making it possible.”
