The top three title contenders in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Jason O’Halloran, Tarran Mackenzie and Tommy Bridewell, kicked off this weekend’s Donington Park Pirelli Performance Centre round at the local Burton-on-Trent state-of-the-art ‘PPC’ facility.
The trio, who are locked in combat for the prestigious Bennetts BSB crown in its 25th Anniversary year, regularly defy the laws of physics on their 230bhp Superbikes, equipped with Pirelli DIABLO Superbike tyres.
The McAMS Yamaha and Oxford Products Racing Ducati race teams attended the premium site alongside the Pirelli P Zero equipped BMW M2 Safety Car to be given a full rundown of processes. The riders and crew chiefs also took part in the Batak challenge to test their reaction times.
Pirelli Performance Centres are formed from a network of carefully selected audited tyre dealers and focus on providing customers with the highest levels of technical proficiency and retail service. First launched in 1998 with the objective of reflecting Pirelli’s premium position in the market, the network now has 138 depots across the UK. The Burton-on-Trent Pirelli Performance Centre neighbours the Pirelli UK head office.
Pirelli Moto UK Director Jim Worland commented, “Today was a great opportunity to bring the world of British Superbikes and the Pirelli Performance Centre concept together ahead of this partnered round at Donington Park. As usual, the riders were on great form despite the immense pressure they must be feeling as we reach the closing stages of one of the most dramatic ever BSB seasons!”
Pirelli Performance Centre Branch Manager, Gareth Williams, said, “It was a pleasure for us to host these BSB riders and their team members ahead of this weekend’s Pirelli Performance Centre Bennetts British Superbike Round. It was great to be able to showcase our high technical levels and commitment to service at our centre, particularly as we now offer Motorcycle tyres with fitment for most products. We wish everyone the best of luck as they head to Donington Park!”
