O’Halloran: “We paid the price and now we have to try and rectify it at Donington Park”

Jason O'Halloran arrives at Donington Park this weekend for the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship determined to try to regain the advantage in the overall standings, with the top three contenders covered by just nine points as the Showdown continues.

O’Halloran had held the lead in the standings since the fourth round of the season and arrived at the Showdown with a 30-point advantage; however two crashes saw his lead shattered, as he is now two points adrift of teammate Tarran Mackenzie and determined to regain the edge.

O’Halloran said: “Obviously Oulton Park was a bit of a disaster and we have been going through things this week and fixing a few things that went wrong to put it all back together to get it back on track at Donington.

“Looking ahead we have two rounds and six races which is a bit of a clean slate as everyone is pretty much level and we have got to enjoy it and get back to winning some races. I was close at Oulton but just didn’t quite get there, obviously I had a couple of crashes so I need to eliminate that. I am going to take the weekend as it comes, see what the weather does and try to score as many points as we can across the three races.

“There is no point in looking at it any other way. There are two points in it between me and Taz and seven back to Tommy, and even Christian and a few of the others are not that far back really. It’s basically six races now that will decide the championship and at the end, what will be, will be.

“For me I want to enjoy the races; it has been a great year for me and I have won a lot of races, taken a lot of podiums, and unfortunately after Silverstone and Oulton Park some things just didn’t go right and we paid the price for it last weekend. Now we have to try and rectify that and get it back on track and I am looking forward to getting started at Donington Park.”
