All three were announced live on stage today at Motorcycle Live and will now receive prizes from R&G, WD-40, Pirelli and LS2 crash helmets.
After an action-packed year of racing across the Bennetts British Superbike Championship paddock, the top two rookie riders from each class were shortlisted as finalists for the 2021 R&G Rookies’ Trophy. Those riders were put to a panel of industry experts, including Steve Plater and Stuart Higgs, alongside representatives from R&G, LS2, Pirelli and WD-40, who narrowed it down to their overall top three.
Announced live onstage at Motorcycle Live, for winning the overall trophy, Carter Brown was the lucky recipient of £750 cash, as well as £500 of product support from R&G, two cases of motorcycle specialist product from WD-40, two sets of race tyres from Pirelli and a Thunder FF805 FIM Carbon helmet, as well as 2022 Race Support from LS2.
Rory Skinner in second place received £500 of product support from R&G, one case of motorcycle specialist product from WD-40, one front and two rear tyres from Pirelli and a Thunder FF805 with service contract for LS2. The announcement of the Rookies tops a successful racing season for R&G. In the UK, supported team Moto Rapido Racing took the title fight to the final round in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, while Casey O’Gorman secured the Honda British Talent Cup title, Charlie Nesbitt the British GP2 Championship and Carl Stevens the 2021 R&G Ducati Shield. Represented in race paddocks around the world, R&G also had success on the international stage, with Sean Dylan Kelly securing the MotoAmerica Supersport title with Team Hammer.
R&G Managing Director Simon Hughes added, “It has been an incredible season of racing, and narrowing down the finalists to just three was very tough. Each rider put in a fantastic effort, but having taken the title to the final race in his debut year, Carter was a deserved winner, while both Rory and Kyle were highly impressive.”
