There will be a new face on the Honda British Talent Cup grid this weekend as American contender Eli Banish makes his debut with the Team Thorneycroft Racing at Brands Hatch.
The 12-year-old from Kentucky began racing in flat track and in 2017 won the AMA Dirt Track Grand Nationals in the 50cc Modified class before moving to circuit racing where he was awarded AMA Youth Road Racer of the Year in 2019. Most recently, Banish has been competing in the MotoAmerica Mini Cup Series, finish sixth and the Italian CIV Season Finale races, where he was in the top five.
Banish said: “This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Honda British Talent Cup and I'm very excited to be here. I can't thank Bradley Wilson of Thornycroft Racing and Richard Mortimer of Mortimer Racing for bringing me onboard and giving me this shot to see how I do.
“I'm looking forward to being on the grid with a lot of the same kids that I watched on YouTube racing minibikes. I also want to wish JJ Cunningham and Harrison Dessoy a speedy recovery and all the best to them for the remainder of the season.”
